Roll 328 and 329 – Tacos with the academic computer society
Yesterday I had tacos with the academic computer society at my alma mater. Also I tried out some new gear, a Braun 370 BVC flash and some Fomapan 100 Professional film. The Shanghai GP3 film that I have used for most my medium format photography until now is discontinued and the stocks have dried up fast. So I’m trying Fomapan to see how it works with my workflow.
The tacos were served at a venue where most of the lights went out at eight in the evening to save electricity. It was a pretty dark place to shoot, especially without a tripod. But with the flash I managed to capture a few shots anyway.
The students are playing a game called Caps. The objective is to throw bottle caps into the cluster of glasses of beer in the middle of the circle of participants. Then everyone gets drunk.
The shots above were taken with the flash bounced into the ceiling, for a bit softer illumination. But I wanted to take a picture of the guy below, without having his wide brimmed hat casting a shadow on the face, so I went for direct flash. I think that will be something for emergencies only.
